Developing Healthcare Practice module (NU32307)
Learn about holistic nursing care across all fields and the full lifespan. Cover assessment, care planning, public health, safeguarding, and quality improvement in person-centred practice
Delivering safe, effective, person-centred care requires you to think holistically, drawing on knowledge of different fields of nursing, a broad range of health conditions, and the complex needs of people across all stages of life. This module builds that capacity, preparing you to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care across a range of healthcare settings.
You will examine principles of holistic health assessment and care planning, alongside public health considerations such as behaviour change and health inequalities. The module also covers pathogenesis and immunology, including immunisation and herd immunity, and addresses the legal and ethical dimensions of capacity, consent, and safeguarding vulnerable people. You will develop your understanding of teamwork, leadership, and quality improvement, and explore your responsibilities in patient safety and advocacy.
Assessment takes the form of a 2,000-word care planning proforma. You will work with a case study drawn from one of the four fields of nursing and demonstrate your knowledge of evidence-based nursing interventions and the nurse's role in addressing the identified healthcare needs.
