Developing Healthcare Practice in Child Nursing 1 module (NC31301)

​​This module gives you a strong grounding in the clinical and theoretical knowledge needed for child nursing. You'll develop your understanding of pathophysiology as it relates to common conditions affecting infants, children, and young people. 

​Central themes include child and family-centred care, consent and capacity, and the pharmacology and drug administration relevant to common childhood conditions. The module also examines diversity in care settings and the contribution of multi-disciplinary teams. 

​By the end of the module, you'll have a clearer picture of the role of the child nurse within the wider healthcare team, and the knowledge needed to plan and deliver safe, effective, person-centred care. 

​What you will learn 

​In this module, you will: 

• ​Develop your knowledge of pathophysiology and evidence-based nursing care for infants, children, and young people with common health conditions 
• ​Apply evidence-based nursing care across a range of settings, supporting children and their carers and families 

​By the end of this module, you will be able to: 

• ​Interpret and apply knowledge of health sciences underpinning nursing care for infants, children, and young people with common conditions 
• ​Apply a child-centred approach to nursing care across a range of settings, using appropriate tools and frameworks 
• ​Assess an individual's capacity to make decisions about their care, and apply understanding of consent when caring for infants, children, and young people 
• ​Examine the role of the child nurse as part of the multi-disciplinary team when working with infants, children, young people, and their families​
