Mathematics (Summer School) module (LD02005)
Consolidate and develop mathematical skills in algebra and trigonometry. This will prepare you for subjects in engineering and science studied at University
The module will focus on basic algebra and trigonometry.
You will find it useful as a means of consolidating and developing mathematical skills. This is of particular interest if you are wishing to become an engineer or scientist.
A sound knowledge of mathematics is essential in many subjects. It is particularly essential in all branches of engineering and science studied at the University. It is also useful in other subjects, such as Accountancy.
What you will learn
In this module, you will:
- study topics in basic algebra. This includes manipulating algebraic expressions and solving algebraic equations
- study topics in trigonometry. This will include basic trigonometry, solving trigonometric equations, and proving trigonometric identities
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
- simplify algebraic expressions
- solve algebraic equations
- understand the meaning of trigonometric functions
- solve trigonometric equations
- prove trigonometric identities
- simplify trigonometric expressions
