Civil Engineering Group Project I module (GA13003)
You will work in small teams to design, build and test a model structure, applying knowledge from maths, structures, materials and engineering practice modules
This end-of-year group project module brings together the knowledge and skills developed across the first year of the Civil Engineering Graduate Apprenticeship, consolidating learning from maths, structures, materials and engineering practice.
Working in small teams with minimal supervision, you will move through the full engineering project cycle: concept design, structural analysis, material selection, model building, testing and report writing.
You will use engineering software to analyse your structure and apply hands-on construction and testing skills in IT and practice labs.
The module develops both technical engineering competencies and key transferable skills including teamwork, communication and individual accountability within a group setting. Assessment is project-based, culminating in a written report.
This module is delivered as part of a Graduate Apprenticeship programme, with teaching taking place one day a week on the Dundee city campus.

Group Project — 100%
- A team-based project requiring the design, construction and testing of a model structure, supported by a written group report.
This module does not have a final exam.
Teaching methods / timetable
- Group-based activities in IT and practice labs
- Guided design, build and test sessions with staff support
