Civil Engineering Work-based Learning I module (GA10008)
You will document, reflect on and present your workplace learning during your first year, demonstrating achievement against the Skills Development Scotland framework
Civil Engineering Work-based Learning I at SCQF Level 7 is a year-long module that integrates academic study and workplace experience at the heart of the Graduate Apprenticeship programme.
The module gives you the structured opportunity to document, reflect on and present the learning you have gained through your employment during year one.
The module develops skills in reflective learning and writing, supporting you in using a reflective framework to consider your own development as an engineer in the workplace.
You will maintain a reflective journal throughout the year, using it to record observations, experiences and insights from your day-to-day work. This ongoing reflection informs a written report demonstrating your achievement against the Skills Development Scotland (SDS) Graduate Apprenticeship framework outcomes, as well as interpersonal skills, goal setting, communication, self-management and teamwork developed in your role.
An oral presentation allows you to communicate the highlights of your workplace learning and professional development to an academic audience.
You are supported through a series of workshops on campus and meetings with your workplace mentor, ensuring you have the skills and guidance to reflect effectively and meet the module's learning outcomes.
