20 credit module that will develop a student’s understanding and knowledge of, and skill in, research methods and processes relevant to contemporary art practice and their own creative-academic investigation, focusing on outputs in a range of written and textual and creative formats.

The module combines a selection of weekly tasks which are intended to stimulate and support MFA studio practice and personal development through writing and research.

You will develop a number of skills essential to your own career paths and will include writing career plans, mind-mapping, ekphrastic writing, art writing and reviews, reflective writing, critical writing and editing, writing a conference paper or art talk, research design and management, and ethics and intellectual property.

You will be supported through personal and group tutorials, personal supervision and feedback. Students are expected to actively participate in all activities, and also to undertake independent learning and study outside timetabled lectures/seminars.
