Illustration: Graduate Portfolio module (DJ40013)
This is the main module for level 4 Illustration students. It leads to the final graduate portfolio for the honours degree
This is the studio module for level 4 Illustration students. It builds on what you learned in years 2 and 3 and leads to your final graduate portfolio for the Illustration honours degree.
You'll work on longer, more challenging projects. This will include self-directed work in your chosen area of illustration.
By the time you graduate. you will have strong technical and practical skills. You will also have an understanding of the illustrator’s role in culture, society, and the economy.
The module also builds valuable transferable skills such as:
- managing workloads
- meeting deadlines
- adapting to change
- clearly communicating your ideas in visual, spoken, and written forms
What you will learn
In this module, you will:
- collaborate with external partners to gain real-world experience
- take part in sessions focused on employability and professional practice
- prepare your graduate portfolio and showcase
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
- understand key aspects of working as a professional illustrator
- understand licensing images and contracts
- develop your own creative voice
- produce high-quality work that shows your ability to choose the right materials and processes for your ideas
Assignments / assessment
- coursework (100%).
At the end of the module, you’ll submit a portfolio containing your project work based on the module briefs as well as research and development work.
This module does not have a final exam.
