Developing the skills to research, analyse and write at dissertation level takes time and guidance. This module gives you both. It is designed to support your investigation of a specialist subject area, deepen your critical understanding, and strengthen your academic writing skills.

Four lectures introduce you to the types of dissertation available at DJCAD: the written dissertation, the electronic dissertation and the exhibition project. They also cover research methods, use of primary and secondary sources, academic writing conventions and how to choose and refine a research topic. Tutorials with your dissertation advisor support your individual progress.

Your main task is to produce a 2,500-word Research Review.
