​​This module allows you to continue developing your practice in design, research, and fabrication using materials and processes relevant to contemporary jewellery and metalwork design. You will respond to design briefs, demonstrating your deepening understanding of expanded design approaches combined with fundamental techniques, tools, and equipment. 

​Lectures, drawing and visual studies, technical workshops, and contextual research develop your knowledge and skills. You will also develop your reflection and presentation skills, building your ability to manage and present a complete body of work independently. 

​Working closely with tutors and peers in the studio, you will deepen your specialism and develop your confidence as a practitioner. 

​What you will learn 

​In this module, you will: 

  • ​continue to develop your design, research, and fabrication skills in jewellery and metalwork 
  • ​respond to design briefs with increasing confidence and independence 
  • ​engage in critical analysis and evaluation of design concepts and ideas 
  • ​synthesise your skills and experimentation into outcomes that reflect your developing specialism 
  • ​manage and present a complete body of work 

​By the end of this module, you will be able to: 

  • ​become familiar with comprehensive jewellery and metalwork design processes through practice and research 
  • ​engage in critical analysis of design concepts, information, and issues; critically evaluate and define ideas to develop through jewellery and metalwork design 
  • ​demonstrate learning and practical engagement with specific processes, exploring different design fundamentals and their potential application in your chosen jewellery and metalwork specialism 
  • ​synthesise core subject skills and experimentation into appropriate outcomes, showing awareness of appropriate practice in your specialism 
  • ​exercise autonomy and initiative to manage a complete and defined body of work​
