This is the semester 2 studio module for level 2 Illustration students. This module consolidates the principles which will form the basis of the rest of your degree. You'll continue to be introduced to new processes. and will work on live projects which present your work to real audiences.
What you will learn
In this module you will:
- learn strategies for collaborative working
- discover idea generation through play
- practise producing illustration for real-world contexts
By the end of this module you will be able to :
- show a robust understanding and application of fundamental illustration processes.
- design for spot-colour printing
- use Adobe Illustrator in combination with laser cutting to create three dimensional image-objects
- show valuable transferable skills, such as managing workloads, meeting deadlines, adapting to change. You will also be able to clearly communicate your ideas in visual, spoken, and written forms
Assignments / assessment
- coursework (100%).
At the end of the module, you’ll submit a portfolio containing your project work. This will be based on the module briefs as well as research and development work.
This module does not have a final exam.
Teaching methods / timetable
Teaching happens on campus in the studio and includes:
- lectures
- group discussions
- critiques
- hands-on work
- online materials.
- Outside of class time, you will guide your own learning. This will involve using resources like the library, workshops, and support from peers when needed.
