Illustration: Introduction module (DJ21017)
You will be introduced to illustration practice. You will cover the essential principles of visual storytelling and how to create compelling illustrations
This is the semester 1 studio module for level 2 Illustration students.
This module will introduce you to the principles which will form the basis of your degree.
You will explore various mediums and approaches to develop effective strategies for visual communication. This will include digital and paper-based processes.
What you will learn
In this module you will:
- learn an iterative development process. This will be transferable to any creative problem solving situation
- discover the professional and conceptual context of illustration
- practice skills in picture making and effective communication
By the end of this module you will be able to :
- Use a sketchbook to effectively develop your ideas
- Create illustrations for editorial, research and sequential outputs
- Use Photoshop, Indesign and printmaking to develop and present your ideas
Assignments / assessment
- coursework (100%).
At the end of the module, you’ll submit a portfolio containing your project work based on the module briefs as well as research and development work.
This module does not have a final exam.
