This module explores the relationships between business managers, investors, governments, and society at large in terms of the financial development of business in the energy and extractive industries.

It studies the tools used in the assessment of capital investment in high-value projects in energy and extractive industries and analyses the sources of finance available to world-wide business enterprises and the means of assessing the returns required by investors.

It examines the working capital requirements of large organisations and the means of maximising the effective use of resources with particular reference to multi-national operations.

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • use financial principles and models to measure business value and for managing working capital
  • use mathematical models to measure risk and evaluate the required return in the energy and extractive industries
