This module aims to enable students to encounter relevant health education practice in a context which meets their learning needs as educators. Students will gain experience of negotiating and optimising learning opportunities in that context and will be challenged to implement new ways of supporting learning, building upon current and emerging understandings of health professional education and reflection. The module will be assessed using two end of module summative assessments which will be mapped to the module intended learning outcomes.

By the end of this module students should be able to:

  • Demonstrate learning from a diverse range of learning/teaching experiences in the context of health professional education, evidencing a critical understanding of underpinning theories and principles.
  • Identify and negotiate learning opportunities designed to bridge and advance a critical perspective on the theory and practice of health professional education, developing original and creative responses to problems and issues identified.
  • Critically reflect on personal experiences of supporting learning and clearly articulate related learning.
  • Develop a strategy for initiating and sustaining best practice in health professional education in their own work context, evidencing informed judgement and substantial autonomy.
