This module aims to support students in critically examining the theories, evidence and practice issues associated with current approaches to optimising learning through clinical education and supervision (at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels).

By the end of this module, students should be able to:

  1. Critically appraise the roles, responsibilities, skills and attributes of the clinical teacher in relation to current approaches to supporting learning in the workplace.
  2. Critically appraise the practicality of theories and models of workplace learning in relation to clinical teaching and learning in your own context.
  3. Articulate a critical stance by reflecting upon your own planning, preparation and delivery of clinically focused teaching activities.
  4. Recommend practical measures to critically analyse and integrate key trends and evidence-based strategies into your clinical teaching.
