​​Good accountants and finance professionals do more than crunch numbers. They help organisations plan, make decisions, and achieve their goals. This module helps you understand that bigger picture. 

​Through a programme of directed readings, you'll explore the role of accounting and finance functions in business organisations. You'll engage with a range of academic and professional sources, building your ability to read critically and synthesise ideas. 

​A small number of tutorials give you the space to discuss what you've read with your tutor and refine your thinking before writing your essay. The focus throughout is on developing your academic writing and your ability to construct a clear, evidence-based argument. 

​What you will learn

​This is a small-cohort module, available to BSc Accounting and Finance students in specific progression circumstances. Most of your learning will take place independently through the directed readings, with tutorial sessions providing structured support.​
