AC51044

You will gain an in-depth understanding of needs-based, user-centred assessment processes.

This will include a review of a number of widely used assistive technology assessment frameworks such as Student, Environment, Task and Tools (SETT) and Human Activity Assistive Technology (HAAT). The module includes opportunities for students to reflect on a range of statutory and non-statutory assessment processes.

This module includes an overview of the provisioning, review, and ongoing support of assistive technologies in different contexts.

In previous iterations of the module, a number of expert guests from across the sector have shared their knowledge and experience with students.

Invited guests in this iteration will provide their expert knowledge and experience in various statutory assessment processes, which may include augmentative and alternative communication, electronic assistive technology, disabled students' allowance, and access to work.

The importance of multi, inter and trans-disciplinary working with other professionals will be modelled and explored.

Students will have the opportunity to present to their peers on an assistive technology assessment that they have undertaken in their working or placement context.
