​​Cloud computing underpins modern technology across every sector. This module gives you a solid grounding in how cloud systems work, without requiring a specific technical background.

​You will work through the core areas of cloud computing: concepts, economics and billing, security and compliance, networking and content delivery, compute power, storage, database solutions, and architecture. Automatic scaling and monitoring are also covered.

​Delivered through the AWS Academy platform, the module is entirely self-paced. You‘ll work through video material and self-guided practical exercises, with support available through online discussion forums.

​What you will learn

​In this module, you will:

  • ​build a broad understanding of cloud computing concepts, independent of any specific technical role
  • ​develop practical skills in cloud security, architecture, storage, and database solutions

​By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • ​understand cloud systems and the global infrastructure components within them
  • ​understand the security and compliance measures of a cloud system, including identity management
  • ​create a virtual private cloud and select appropriate cloud instance types for different use cases
  • ​identify when to use cloud database services
  • ​apply problem-solving, communication, and independent study skills in a self-directed online learning environment​
