CreateSpace is a creative and wellbeing space on the ground floor of the Main Library and is available to students and staff within the University of Dundee.
The space is equipped with a variety of specialist tools including Ultimaker 3D printers, a Brother digital embroidery machine, sewing machines and more.
There are also a variety of crafting tools available including crochet hooks, knitting needles and embroidery hoops. Each piece of CreateSpace equipment can be booked for use.

CreateSpace equipment should be booked in advance of your visit to ensure access.
3D printers need to be reserved for the full duration of your print job
Ultimaker S5 – 3D Printer
The Ultimaker S5 is a professional-grade 3D printer with a large build volume measuring 330 x 240 x 300 mm (13 x 9.4 x 11.8 inches) It also has precise dual extrusion capabilities and a user-friendly interface.
The S5 is suitable for a diverse range of users, from beginners to experienced makers. It uses polylactic acid (PLA) filament which is derived from renewable resources like corn starch and sugar cane.
The Ultimaker printers can be used in conjunction with Ultimaker Cura. This is a software designed to prepare 3D models for printing on Ultimaker 3D printers. The software can be used to import, position, scale and slice designs for optimal printing and there are a range of customisable settings. Ultimaker Cura is available on the iMac in CreateSpace, next to the 3D printers.
Brother PR1050X Digital Embroidery Machine
The Brother PR1050X is a versatile digital embroidery machine with a 10-needle system. This means it can deliver intricate embroidery on various fabrics. It has a large embroidery area and can be used by both beginners and experienced users.
The machine can be used in conjunction with PE Design 11 software. This software can be used to design patterns, monograms and lettering. It has a library of built-in designs along with customisation options. PE Design 11 is available on the PC in the sewing area of CreateSpace.

Bernina L-450 Overlocker
The Bernina L-450 is an overlocker with a variety of features including differential feed, automatic thread tension and a colour-coded threading path. It can undertake precise stitching on a variety of fabrics including seamless hems, seams, and decorative edges.

Singer 4432 Heavy Duty Sewing Machines
The Singer 4432 is a heavy duty sewing machine with a stainless steel sewing machine bed, 32 built in stitches and an automatic needle threader. It can sew through multiple layers of fabric and stitch width can be adjusted up to 6mm.

Cricut EasyPress 2
The Cricut EasyPress 2 is a heat press or transfer press which can be used with a variety of material items such as T-shirts, pillowcases and more. It has a heat range up to 205oC and built in timer.
Cricut Maker 3
The Cricut Maker 3 is a cutting machine which can be used with over 300 different materials. Different blades allow cutting, writing, scoring, and foiling and the machine is fully compatible with Cricut Smart Materials. The Cricut Maker can be connected to the Cricut Smart Design Space App via Bluetooth. The App is available via iOS and Android as is free to download.
