Mentoring for students with mental health difficulties

Disability Services offer specialist one-to-one support if you are experiencing ongoing mental heath issues.

All disabled students are advised to contact Disability Services as soon as possible to ensure individual support arrangements are made.

If you are a student who is experiencing ongoing mental health issues, and your symptoms are affecting your ability to study, we can offer specialist one-to-one support for you.  This is known as mentoring.

We can:

  • liaise with academic departments with your agreement and on your behalf
  • support you with managing your mental wellbeing by balancing your academic work and health difficulties
  • help you develop coping strategies and skills to maximise your study potential and allow academic progress, such as:
    • time management strategies
    • organisational skills
  • help you to build on your strengths and increase your confidence
  • regularly review the impact of your mental health on your academic progress
