Join the Library: membership information
Learn how to join the library and about the different categories of membership

Membership
We welcome membership applications from:
- members of the public
- University of Dundee graduates
- staff and students from other higher education institutions
- colleagues from NHS Fife and NHS Tayside
- people who have a connection or affiliation with the University.
Before you apply
Membership rights and conditions vary by membership category. Not all membership categories include borrowing rights, and membership periods vary.
Use of IT and print facilities, and booking of study rooms, are restricted to current University of Dundee students and staff.
After you apply
Once your application has been processed, your membership will be active the next day and your library card will be ready for collection.
When collecting your card, please bring proof of identity.
Using our libraries
You must have your physical membership card to enter and exit our libraries. We cannot accept digital copies of membership cards, and visitor passes are not available for any membership category.
If you bring your own device, public Wi-Fi (TheCloud by Sky) is available in our libraries. Docking monitors are also available at all library sites if you need an additional screen.We also offer walk-in access to a limited selection of electronic resources when you are visiting our libraries.
For each of our library sites an interactive map is available. Use these maps to locate books and journals, and other facilities and services. You can also check the availability and book our study rooms. Our getting started guide also contains practical and useful hints and tips.
How to apply
Membership applications are submitted online.
Applications are usually processed Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00, excluding the Christmas and New Year period. If we need additional information or a subscription payment, we will contact you by email.
