Penguin Pass It On: Trio of merchandise aimed to fire up Gen Z about reading. Research showed that Gen Z readers love to talk about their books, as seen on BookTok, but are also passionate about sustainability. I developed Penguin Pass It On, a campaign to get Gen Z passing their books around, so one person’s book can be read by many. The main piece, the sticker, is put into the cover of a book and can be filled out by the readers, so the owner can see the journey their book has been on.

Vessel Coniston Copper Vodka: A Spirit influenced by Coniston in the Lake District and its copper mining history. The Copper Cup that clips to a Vessel bottle was inspired by one of the first uses of the copper mined in Coniston, Copper Bottoming the wooden hulls of sailing ships. Vessel can be enjoyed from this cup as a reward after a hike.

Untamed Box: Companion farmed crops, sold together in a box. Companion farming is a method that mimics edible plants in the wild. Planting species together that benefit each other, keeps biodiversity in the farming industry and can eliminate pests and diseases without pesticides. Farmers struggle with this method as it is costs to separate the crops for selling, but Untamed boxes tackle this by selling the vegetables together. Boxes contain a recipe for a meal using the vegetables inside, as well as seeds to companion plant the vegetables yourself. A website and monthly community days are part of the campaign to spread awareness of the method.

3 separate photos, each showing a piece of merchandise. They have backgrounds of navy, bright orange and green. Photo 1: The Book wrap is covered in penguins passing a book between them, surrounded by a colourful stamp. Photo 2: The stickers are a grid in which information can be filled in, such as comments of the book. They have the same design of penguins on the wrap. Photo 3: The stamp is shown along with its print. The design, a bookcase filled with books and a penguin holding a book in the corner.

The three pieces of merchandise of the Penguin Pass It On collection. Book Wrap to keep the book safe whilst traveling to the next person; a sticker to be put on the inside cover of the book and be filled out by each reader; and lastly an ink stamp which can be used to create many bookmarks from old materials.

Vessel: Coniston Copper Vodka

A box alongside a bottle of vodka with a copper cup attached to the bottom. The Box is a deep blue with smooth curved lines covering the sides in copper. ‘Vessel’ Reads across the front of both objects and a simplified mine cartwheel as a logo is sitting just above. Text on this photo reads ‘Copper Bottoms Up’ and ‘Celebrate with Vessel’ The photo across from this depicts the same object but with the copper cup separated from the bottle and with a similar smaller box as the ‘Cocktail kit’.

The Branding and packaging designs for Vessel Vodka. The label and boxes depict the contour lines of the fells around Coniston town in copper leaf detailing. Vessel can also be enjoyed as a ‘Coniston Mule’ from a Cocktail Kit.

Untamed Boxes

A cardboard box with a circular logo containing teal and light blue illustrated vegetables on the top. Underneath reads ‘Untamed Companion Farmed Vegetables, Soup box’ On the sides there is a pattern with the same vegetables as shown in the logo. The box is surrounded by a pepper, onion, garlic bulb and tomatoes. Lying next to the box is the recipe card with the logo and instructions to make the untamed soup.

The Untamed Soup box, one of the collection, shown with the recipe card to make the soup. On the reverse is some vegetable identifiers to mark the seeds you’ve planted.
