All of my adult life I have felt an overwhelming attachment to the forest. Whether that be a large common walking route or a small hidden away treasure. The forest has given me a sense of comfort that I couldn’t possibly put into words.

Throughout this year I have been working on a series of work themed around this very idea. By creating, collecting and photographing all aspects of the forests in which I frequently visit. I have created a collection of alternative prints and sound work while using a variety of elements from each forest.

I started my journey by collecting natural objects from the ground of these different locations and only taking what was detached or fallen. Ensuring that I was only taking what was given and not harming the environment in any way. These collected objects were then used for prints and experiments along with a series of barefoot self-portrait images that portray the sense of grounding I have with the earth.

By using the technique of cyanotype, it allowed me to incorporate the sun into my work and added another natural component to dictate and manipulate the Work. Cyanotype is a form of printing that uses UV sensitive chemicals to create an impression of a plant or photo negative. I have chosen to create a combination of the two to show the contrast in both natural and photographic images.
