Strengthening employability through alumni support
The award-winning University of Dundee Careers Service is committed to helping our students, staff, and alumni community build the skills and confidence to succeed in their chosen career.
Published on 19 November 2025
We want our learners to be equipped with the tools they need not only for future careers, but also to reflect upon their skills development, to question, to pivot, and to thrive in whatever roles they choose to go into. Student timetables are increasingly including in-curricular employability opportunities which allow them to put into practice what they are learning on their degree pathways and highlight real-world applications to boost their employability.
Careers support for alumni
As a member of the alumni community of the University of Dundee, you have dedicated access to our services, from tailored careers guidance and practical help with CVs and interviews, to opportunities for CPD and skills development through providing alumni talks or hosting students in your own organisation.
RBC Brewin Dolphin Investment Challenge
Alumna Suzy Thomson, (Accountancy, 2006), approached the Careers Service with the idea to further engage students with the field of Investment/Asset Management outside of what they learn through classes alone. This challenge saw students build investment pitches and prepare presentations to then convince a panel of judges to invest in their chosen company. This developed key competencies such as communication, teamwork and presentation skills, but also gave participants an insight into a particular career.
The Careers Service were delighted to see such success with our inaugural Investment Challenge in partnership with RBC Brewin Dolphin, and are pleased to be building the event into class timetables once again this academic year.
