Maths Week Scotland 2026 takes place from 19 to 27 September, and this year’s theme is “Maths Matters”. As part of this Scotland-wide event, we have created a Maths Trail at the Dundee Botanic Garden.

From the perfect geometric spirals of succulent plants to the hidden symmetry in leaf arrangements, nature is full of mathematical secrets. Perfect for curious minds of all ages, this interactive outdoor quest lets you see the natural world through a whole new lens. As you explore the garden, look out for our QR codes and scan them with your phone to unlock websites, dive deeper into the mathematical mysteries of each plant, and discover exactly why Maths Matters in the natural world. So, grab your trail map and come prove that maths is the very blueprint of nature. A limited number of printouts will be available at reception if you don’t have a smartphone (or run out of battery).

There is a standard admission fee to the Botanic Garden. No additional fee for the Maths Trail.
