This event is a collaboration between researchers at The University of Dundee and the British Academy Early Career Researchers Network. It aims to bring early career researchers (ECRs) together to celebrate the contributions of researchers from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds. The event will also provide an opportunity to ECRs to explore possibilities for collaborative research in different fields.

The event will include:

  • Lightning talks where BAME-researchers will share their research, research interests or their contributions in teaching, community engagement or other activities. The purpose of these talks is twofold:
    1. to celebrate diverse contributions of BAME- ECRs; and
    2. to share the expertise and interests of the event participants for further collaboration.
  • Keynote speeches by BAME academics including Prof. Chakravarthi Ram-Prasa FBA. The focus of the keynotes will be on career progression strategies and opportunities for BAME-ECRs.
  • Small-group sessions to discuss potential collaborative research projects. Considering the focus of the event, the participants will be encouraged to think about challenges faced by BAME- ECRs and plan at least ONE research project on issues related to BAME-ECRs. The event organisers will facilitate these sessions. The participants might apply for some seed funding to execute their draft research project (the outcome of the session).

The target audience for the event includes Early Career Researchers (ECRs) interested in expanding their professional network. Refreshments and lunch will be provide. We would are inviting submissions for the lightening talks.

If you would like to present, please, send us the title and abstract (up to 150 words) of your talk to [email protected] by 30 September 2024

Note as this event is in collaboration with the British Academy (BA), if you are interested in attending and are not currently a BA member, you will need to register to become a BA ECRN member. Registration is free.
