Visiting scholars in Education and Social Work
We provide visiting opportunities to academics, professionals and research students who work in relevant discipline areas from other institutions in the UK and across the globe
We aim to facilitate effective exchange of ideas and interaction amongst like-minded researchers and provide a stimulating environment for academic and professional development.
Visiting academics and professionals
The School welcomes a small number but wide range of visiting academics and professionals each year. We particularly encourage visitors whose areas of research align with our research themes. These visits can last for up to eight weeks.
Visitors are given associate staff status to allow them access to computing facilities, library and online resources.
You will need to arrange your own accommodation and cover all expenses related to your visit. We will not normally charge for visits for eight weeks or fewer.
Please register your interest no later than three months before your requested date of arrival.
Visiting doctoral students
The School also welcomes visiting doctoral students without any expectation of supervision or co-ordination of their visit, these visits can last for up to eight weeks. Visitors are given associate staff status to allow them access to Information Technology facilities, library and online resources. Visitors must arrange their own accommodation and cover all expenses related to their visit.
Visiting doctoral scholars programme
The School offers opportunities to study with us for short periods of time on a non-graduating programme, fees will be charged on a pro-rata basis, aligning with current fee rates. Applications can be made through the following links.
- Non-graduating research in Education, Social Work and Community Education (6 months or more)
- Non-graduating research in Education, Social Work and Community Education (less than 6 months)
When you apply to our Visiting Doctoral Scholars programme you will be asked to provide information on:
- your research proposal
- current status and progress of your PhD
- what you are expecting to do at Dundee
- evidence of IELTS 6.5 in every component or equivalent
- your CV
- references from your academic supervisors
