The data processed will normally be information concerning 'protected characteristics' per the Equality Act 2010. Much of this information is 'special category' personal data per the General Data Protection Regulation.

Where the data required in this area is 'personal data' rather than 'special category' personal data, the University will normally process such data for compliance with a legal obligation or for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of the University's official authority.
