The University of Dundee may, in certain circumstances, process data further to the requirements of the Equality Act, in pursuit of measures to ensure equality of opportunity or treatment, or when undertaking processes concerning diversity at senior levels of the University, including racial and ethnic diversity

How we use your information

The data processed will normally be information concerning 'protected characteristics' per the Equality Act 2010. Much of this information is 'special category' personal data per the UK General Data Protection Regulation.

Data controller

The data controller for this information is the University of Dundee.

Lawful processing

Where the data required in this area is 'personal data' rather than 'special category' personal data, the University will normally process such data for compliance with a legal obligation or for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of the University's official authority.

Where special categories of personal data are processed in this area, this is normally done on the basis of Article 6(1)(e) and Article 9(2)(b) UK GDPR for the purpose of carrying out obligations in the field of employment and social security and social protection law, or for reasons of substantial public interest on the basis of Article 6(1)(e) and Article 9(2)(g) UK GDPR and further to the provisions of Schedule 1, Part 2 of the Data Protection Act 2018.
