Archives services information for readers

We look forward to welcoming you to the searchroom. We aim to make your visit as enjoyable, comfortable and as safe as possible.

Before you visit

Places are limited so we advise that you book an appointment by emailing archives@dundee.ac.uk. Please look at our online catalogue to decide which items you would like to view before your visit and send us the list so we can have the material ready for you.

On arrival

Ask at the Tower reception for directions or follow the signage to reach us in the basement of the Tower building.

Ring the bell by the searchroom door and we will welcome you in and allocate you a seat.

If you are a new researcher, we will ask you to complete a registration form with your details. If you are returning, we will check that the contact details we have for you are correct.

During your visit

Any pre-requested items will be ready for you in the searchroom, along with any weights needed.

Be aware that other users may be in the searchroom, so please be sensitive to their health and wellbeing.

All work areas are cleaned before and after visitors.

You are welcome to use a camera or phone to copy items of interest, but please check with a staff member as charges may apply.

You are welcome to browse the books in the searchroom and ask a member of staff if you would like to view the image bank on the searchroom PC.
