9 things you need to know about Dundee
Thinking about where to study? Here are 9 reasons why Dundee could be the perfect choice for you - from our riverside location and compact campus to our student support and career outcomes

1. We’re based in Scotland’s 4th largest city, Dundee
Dundee has excellent transport links to the rest of Scotland and the UK (which means we’re not as far from home as you might think!). The city is also a great size for students – not-too-big, not-too-small!
2. Dundee sits on the banks of the River Tay
It’s got a great mix of city life, with coastal areas and nature close by. This makes it easy to enjoy city life and also get away from it all when you want to take a break. You are only a ten-minute bus ride away from Tentsmuir National Nature Reserve, where you will find miles of sandy beaches and forest to explore.
3. We’ve got a compact city centre campus
Being in the heart of the city means everything you need is within a 10-minute walk of campus. We also have a really great campus community which makes it easy to meet new people and make friends.

4. Our campus community is built on sports and societies
With over 150 to choose from, there’s plenty to do, and lots of like-minded people to support you through your uni journey.
5. Dundee’s a real student city
During term time 1 in 7 (14%) of Dundee residents are students. This means the city is geared up for students and has a friendly, student-focused vibe.
6. There’s loads to do!
Culture (art galleries, events, and cinemas), nightlife (clubs, pubs, restaurants), sports (parks, gyms, playing fields) and nature (beaches, forests, mountains). Whatever you want your life to look like, Dundee is the perfect place to be a student!
7. You’ll be well supported
At Dundee, you’ll not only have a dedicated academic advisor to guide you through your studies, we have lots of support at all stages and parts of your uni life. From health and wellbeing, to careers and employability advice, you can find support for everything you encounter! You can even chat to our students, who are happy to answer your questions about studying and student life.
8. We’ll help you get career-ready
With over 91% of our graduates in work or further study within 15 months of graduating (Graduate Outcomes 2024), we’re here to help you have the life you want after your studies end. From finding you placements or industry experience, to coaching you on your CV or job interviews, there are loads of ways we’ll help you prepare for your future career.
9. You’ll find high satisfaction across our student body
We scored 84% overall satisfaction in the National Student Survey 2024 – the UK-wide ranking that asks real students how satisfied they are with their uni choices. This takes into account things like teaching, academic support, and student life – all hugely important for making your choice about where to study!
