We are recruiting for an administrative Modern Apprentice within the D'Arcy Thompson Unit in the School of Life Sciences. This is a fixed-term part-time appointment for 2 years.
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our fantastic team and be part of the D'Arcy Thompson Unit. You will be part of a larger administrative team and will undertake a wide variety of general and administrative tasks.
A modern apprenticeship is a work-based training programme that leads to an industry approved qualification for 16- 24 year olds. Training is mostly on-the-job, which means Modern Apprentices learn the right mix of skills, knowledge and abilities. The apprentice will enrol with Dundee and Angus College. It is hoped that the successful candidate would achieve SVQ Business and Administration Level 5 within the 2-year period. Pay will be at the National Minimum Wage Rate based on age of candidate (ages 16-24).
Working alongside, and with the support of the administration team, you will assist them with roles underpinning the smooth running of Reception in the D'Arcy Thompson Unit.
The School of Life Sciences provides outstanding education supported by world class research facilities.
Your priorities will include:
- Greet and welcome staff, students and visitors to the building
- Place orders and maintain stationery stocks
- Manage the Reception generic email box
- Manage the Reception area, including mail/courier deliveries
- Maintain ID card system for staff and students
- Provide general clerical assistance as required
Who we're looking for:
- A good communicator
- A candidate with the ability to work to a high level of accuracy and reliability
- A candidate with good organisational skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365
This is a fixed-term part-time position (25 hrs per week). Hours of work are 8.45 am - 1.45 pm Monday-Friday.
This is a school term-time only position (40 weeks per year).
