Land Management for increased flood resilience

The Centre is currently working in the Tweed with colleagues in the CEPMLP, and Heriot-Watt university to investigate the acceptability to farmers of different interventions in land management to reduce flood risk.

New approaches to natural flood management (NFM) at a catchment scale are required to improve flood resilience to downstream communities, but little is known about their acceptability or impact on farming practice and business operations.

This work, which covers from the hills to the coast, is of direct policy relevance and is being delivered for the Scottish Centre for Research Expertise in Waters (CREW) funded by Scottish Government, SEPA and SNH (2013/14).
