European Studies MA (Hons)
School of Humanities
Examine the political, social and cultural forces which have moulded Europe, and which will influence its future
Dundee City Campus
This course brings together a range of disciplines from across the humanities and social sciences. You can develop your own unique degree by choosing subjects that interest you.
Our concept of Europe is very broad, and you can choose to study Russia, or focus on Britain and Scotland in a wider European context.
We will give you the historical background, but you will also look at issues that matter in Europe now, such as integration, migration, cultural identity, policy and governance.
You can choose from a range of additional modules from other subjects and related fields such as History, Philosophy, Languages, International Relations and Politics, Geography, and Law.
You are not required to study a European language as part of this course, although most of our students do take this option.
We also work closely with our European partner universities to give you the opportunity to study abroad.
“The best thing was that I was able to dip my toes in different subjects and find out what interests me most. Studying abroad gave me a huge insight into how other countries work and how to interact with different cultures and opinions.”
Ludmilla Schmidt, European Studies and International Relations with French graduate
