In this course you will examine how businesses of all sizes start, operate, adapt, and grow. You will learn how to put business management techniques and models into practice and understand their limitations.

We focus on key, traditional business management topics, such as project management, operations management, strategic management, leadership and managing change and innovation. But we also look at areas of business that may be more modern, or certainly more current and growing in importance. One such area is around examining the relationship between business and society. You will study and explore the opportunities for business growth, current policies and corporate trends, as well as the social, political, economic, cultural and ethical challenges that shape doing business across societies.

Other areas growing in importance are centred around key business terms which you will become familiar with as a student, but also as a graduate. As you enter employment with organisations, you will find many are building strategies around how to operate on a global scale, but importantly, what factors will affect, and how do they manage their durability, sustainability, diversity, responsibility, and accountability.

This degree is one of our in-practice degrees. Undergraduate In Practice degrees emphasise practical knowledge and employability skills, featuring an 8-week internship in China, Vietnam, or the UK (Manchester) in the summer between years 3 and 4. The internship is integrated into the curriculum and it serves as the basis for an assessed, credit-bearing business project. You will be able to select your chosen country as well as indicate your preferred type of job role, organisation, and industry.

The internship is paid for by the School of Business and managed by a third party called Pagoda Projects, who have had a long relationship with us in managing internships for our masters programmes. Students only have to pay for their flights and living expenses (excluding accommodation and utilities) while interning in their chosen country.
