Dundee is approximately 80 miles from Glasgow International Airport, and can be reached by taxi, train or bus, as follows.
There are two major airports in Glasgow, Prestwick is further from Dundee than Glasgow International.
Travel to Dundee by bus or train
There are direct buses and trains from Glasgow to Dundee throughout the day. Buchanan Street Bus Station and Glasgow Queen Street Railway Station are both located in the city centre (about seven miles away from the airport).

Coaches operated by Citylink and airport express service run from the Airport to Queen Street station, until 23:00. These are every 10-15 minutes during the day and every 30 minutes in the evening. It costs £8.00 one way, and takes around 30 minutes.
A taxi from Glasgow Airport to Queen Street Station will cost approximately £20 depending on the time of day. These are available from outside the terminal, a short walk from UK arrivals.
Travel to Dundee by bus
The CityLink bus to Dundee is a stopping service which takes over two hours, it is therefore quicker to get the Aberdeen bus to Dundee even if you have to wait at the bus station.
The price of a single fare to Dundee on either CityLink service is around £17.50. You pay the driver in cash as you board the bus.
Megabus buses to Dundee must be booked in advance from their website and can be cheaper, however if you miss the bus you have booked you can not use your ticket on a later journey and will have to pay again.
Travel to Dundee by train
There are regular direct trains from Glasgow Queen Street Station to Dundee. All trains to Aberdeen (or Dyce) stop at Dundee. Glasgow Queen Street is a main station with many facilities, such as places to eat, however you must keep your luggage with you at all times.
IMPORTANT: Glasgow Central Station is for trains to London via the West Coast of Britain. There are no trains to Dundee from Glasgow Central, only Queen Street.
Trains run between 03:29 and 23.00 and the journey takes 1 hour and 40 minutes. The cost of a standard single fare from Glasgow to Dundee is £23.20. You must buy a ticket from a ticket machine on the concourse as there are ticket operated barriers to reach the platforms. Tickets will be checked by an inspector on the train who will validate your ticket on-board during the journey.
It can be cheaper to book your train ticket in advance and pick it up at the station using the credit card you used to pay as identification. Some advance tickets are only valid for particular train company services (e.g. ScotRail or Virgin Trains). Please read the details on the ticket website carefully before buying.
Airport Transfer by Dundee Direct
University of Dundee have a partnership with an airport transfer service called Dundee Direct which can offer cheaper taxi transfers. Based on 3 people sharing, transfer from Glasgow is £36 per person.
Travel to Dundee by taxi
Taxis are available outside the Glasgow airport terminal – check the comparison taxi site, www.minicabit.com for rates. Taxis cost from £130 upwards. This option is the quickest, but most expensive method of transport. If there are two or more students travelling together this may provide a cost-effective option.
On arrival in Dundee
Taxis are available outside the railway and bus stations, the fare is £5 - £8 to University accommodation. Let the taxi driver know the name of your halls (Belmont, Heathfield, Seabraes or West Park) as they know the quickest routes to each.
