What is the Tay Cities Region Deal?

The Scottish and UK Governments have each invested £150m in the Tay Cities Region Deal over 10 years. The ultimate aim of this is to enhance the lives and opportunities of the region’s citizens through sustainable economic growth across places, businesses and communities. This will be delivered by:

  • ensuring that people are empowered with the skills needed to thrive in the workplace of today and tomorrow
  • creating new training and job opportunities - the award of the Deal has the potential to create over 6,000 quality jobs
  • reducing inequalities
  • attracting and retaining skilled and talented people
  • growing innovation and building on the region's academic and business excellence
  • attracting additional investment to the region with a goal of £400m over 15 years
  • improving connectivity across the physical and digital environments
  • being increasingly ambitious, creative and recognised locally, nationally and internationally

Who leads on the Deal at a regional level?

The Tay Cities Deal brings together public, private and voluntary organisations in the council areas of Angus, Dundee, Fife and Perth & Kinross to deliver a smarter and fairer region through an exciting mix of programmes and projects. Under the deal, business, higher and further education, local government, the Third Sector (e.g. charities), Scottish Enterprise and Skills Development Scotland will work closely to create growth quickly and sustainably using the significant public investment to bring greater prosperity and equality.
