We care about your safety while you are abroad. In the event of an emergency or crisis situation in your host city or country eg a natural disaster, severe weather or other major incident, please follow these procedures;

  • Get safe and stay safe
  • Assess the situation
  • Follow any guidance given to you by local authorities
  • Follow any guidance given to you by your host institution
  • Follow Foreign Commonwealth Office (FCO) guidance
  • Call or email home
  • Keep family and Global Programmes staff updated

In an emergency we will:

  • Check FCO guidance
  • Make contact with you if you are in an affected city or immediate area to check that you are safe
  • Email you if you are in an affected country to check that you are safe
  • Monitor our emails accounts in case you are trying to contact us
  • Monitor newsfeeds
  • Provide assistance as required
  • Courtesy call parents/next of kin if you give us your permission

You must complete and return your risk assessment form before you go abroad.
