Young and Powerful Poster Competition 2018

Monday 2 July 2018, 09:30 – 16:30

Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, Perth Road, Dundee, DD1 4HT

Young & Powerful is a national poster competition, celebratory exhibition and series of workshops giving young people aged 8-26 the opportunity to engage with design and inspire their peer group.

In collaboration with the department of Graphic Design here at the University of Dundee, ACES will be hosting a workshop for pupils to participate in the competition.

Explore days

In addition to these events, we also run Explore days for Architecture, Product Design and Graphic Design in the autumn. We are also hoping to host Explore Animation for the first time this year too. We also have lots of other events running in the summer and autumn, including printmaking, life drawing and portfolio prep club. We will be running our application, portfolio, personal statement and digi-folio workshops in September, October and November. The events will include practical activities and the work you produce may be included in your portfolio - for other courses too. We would advise you to take lots of photos on the day and to include these in your portfolio - as selectors really like to see that you've explored your options.

Studying art and design at university is VERY different to school - there are so many options! ACES events will help you make the right decisions about which courses to apply for, find out what selectors are looking for and anything else that you might need to prepare.

You do not need to apply to the University of Dundee to be part of ACES. ACES is funded by the Scottish Government to help you get to wherever is right for you. Our advice is impartial and unbiased. We'd also recommend going to university open days, and we might run a trip to them too if interest is high!

You're welcome to bring along a friend to our Explore days, however there are some conditions:

Please email aces@dundee.ac.uk if you have any questions.
