Online Summer School

You have the option to participate in our 6 week Online Summer School which if you successfully complete to the required standard will secure your entry to first year in September 2018.

What is Online Summer School

The Online Summer School is an alternative qualification and preparation route for eligible students, who currently just miss the academic requirements for entry this year, and who have firmly accepted their UCAS offer from the University of Dundee.

We recognise your achievements and would like to offer you the opportunity to take part in our Online Summer School. By completing and passing to the required standard either one or two subject modules*, eligible students can earn an undergraduate place at the University of Dundee for September 2018. The Online Summer School will:

  • prepare you for University level study
  • give you access to lots of advice from a dedicated team of experts to help you along every step of the way. Each student is assigned their own online Personal Tutor to work with throughout the course. Students who have completed the course the previous year (mentors) are also constantly on hand to help students find what they need and ensure they progress well.

* Some applicants may have additional conditions attached to their online summer school offer. Your UCAS offer from us will indicate any additional conditions.

Why should I consider the Online Summer School this year?

  • You have firmly accepted the University of Dundee as your firm choice
  • The Online Summer School will help prepare you for being a student. You will have access to modules, staff and resources that will enhance your learning and make the transition to first year easier
  • If you complete and pass the course* to the required standard, you will gain your place in September

* Some applicants may have additional conditions attached to their online summer school offer.

Is the course full time?

The course takes 6 weeks in total to complete running from Monday 4 June 2018 - Friday 13 July inclusive, so you must be available to study online daily throughout that period. The course can be done completely online at times during the day that suit you. This can be done at home if you have reliable broadband access or on campus if you need to use the resources/facilities. Online Summer School students will complete an initial Academic Skills induction course before undertaking their subject module(s).

I'm not sure yet if I want to do the Online Summer School, when do I need to decide?

Online Summer School is an option at any of the following times:

  • Now - just let us know you want to take up your offer of the Online Summer School. A member of our team will be in touch with more information about modules in due course.
  • When you get your prelim marks back, you may not have done as well as expected and you may want to consider the Online Summer School as a way to ensure you gain entry to Dundee University and apply right away,
  • In May/June when your final exams are taking place, some of you may feel that one did not go as planned and you are worried that you may fall short of the minimum requirements. You should still have time to apply and will be accepted if we still have places available on the course.

To summarise - why should I consider the Online Summer School?

    • It will help prepare you for being a student
    • Complete and pass the Online Modules to win a First Year place*
    • Course takes 6 weeks to complete - Monday 4 June 2018 - Friday 13 July 2018 inclusive
    • Summer School Graduation Ceremony on Thursday 19 July 2018
