Parents and guardians are invited to attend a cheese and wine reception on 26 August in the Longforgan Room at West Park. 

Please email opendays@dundee.ac.uk if you would like to attend. 

The Reception will commence at 8.00pm and finish at 10.00pm.  
Members of senior University staff are being invited to this event so that they can welcome you to the University.
If you decide to stay outside University accommodation on 26 August, you are still welcome to attend the Reception, but you will need to book in advance.

All prospective students are invited to attend our student social at DUSA (Dundee University Students’ Association) on Sunday 26 August. 

The event will start at 8.00pm and finish at 11.00pm.

Transport will be provided for those staying at West Park.  
If you are a local resident and do not need accommodation, but would like to attend the party, you are welcome to do so, but you will need to book in advance.  

No alcohol will be provided at West Park, or at the party in DUSA as the majority of applicants are under 18. 
The University of Dundee will not accept any responsibility for the consumption of alcohol.

The central hub on the day will be a marquee, located on Campus Green.  The marquee will house information stands on every discipline Dundee has to offer, as well as student services.

As well as the chance to meet staff from the course you are interested in we have a range of talks, tours and workshops covering all aspects of your time in Dundee to enjoy.

On our booking form you can arrange the day to suit yourselves, and if you wish to have your parents attend a talk while you tour the campus or divide up the events in any other way, you can!

Registration

Please collect your Open Day pack at one of our Registration Points, either pop-up points or in DUSA foyer or Dalhousie Building. Please remember to bring your Eventbrite confirmation (you can either take a paper copy or have it available to scan on an electronic device).

Campus Tours

Tours of the campus will be available throughout the day, leaving from the Enquiry Centre on Campus Green, every 15 minutes between 0845 and 1445. Student Ambassadors will take you round our campus and facilities and will give you an overview of student life.  Campus tours last approximately 45 minutes.

Accommodation Tours

Tours of the student accommodation will be leaving the Enquiry Centre every hour and half hour from 0930 to 1500.  These tours will last approximately 15 minutes.

Welcome Addresses

The Principal will deliver a Welcome Address in Lecture Theatre 3, Dalhousie Building at 0930 and 1030.

UCAS – Applying to University

Presentations on the application process to university will be held in Lecture Theatre 2, Dalhousie Building at 1000, Lecture Theatre T9, Tower Building at 1100, 4.01 Scrymgeour Building at 1200 and in Lecture Theatre 1, Dalhousie Building at 1345.

Student Finance

Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) will have an information stand in the marquee on Campus Green. SAAS will also be delivering presentations on student funding arrangements for Scottish and EU students in Lecture Theatre 3, Dalhousie Building at 1100 and 1315.

There will be presentations about student funding arrangements for English, Northern Irish and Welsh students in 2G14, Dalhousie Building at 1100 and in Lecture Theatre 1, Dalhousie Building at 1300.

Student Life

Current students will be delivering talks on life as a student at Dundee in Lecture Theatre T9, Tower Building at 0930, Lecture Theatre 2, Dalhousie Building at 1200 and 1330.

Study Abroad

Our Study Abroad team will have an information stand in the marquee on Campus Green. There will be presentations on Study Abroad in Lecture Theatre 2, Dalhousie Building at 1030 and 1230.

Study Abroad is available to our undergraduates students by way of our international and Erasmus+ exchange programmes.  Where and when you go depends on which degree you take. Study Abroad is currently not available to the following students: CAHID, Community Learning & Development, Dentistry, Medicine, Oral Health Sciences, Primary Education and Social Work.

Food & Drink

There will be a BBQ on Campus Green from 1100 to 1400. You can also purchase snacks in the Air Bar, Liar Bar or Food on 4 in DUSA, at the cafes in the Main Library or MSI Building. Or there are a number of eateries around the campus and in the city centre.

Capture Your Day

Grab a memento of your day at Dundee with the Sillysnapz photo booth!  It will be located just outside the Registration Point in DUSA foyer.

Left Luggage

For visitors who have travelled a distance, there will be a Left Luggage service in room 2G03, Dalhousie Building from 0800 to 1515.

Free Refreshments for Visitors

On the Open Day, the Chaplaincy will be providing complimentary refreshments for visitors.

Whoever you are and wherever you come from, you will always be welcome in the Chaplaincy which is situated right in the heart of the main University campus in Cross Row.  You don’t have to be religious to visit the Chaplaincy Centre.  It is a relaxing and friendly place.  Our facilities include the Chapel, a Coffee Bar, Library, Quiet Room and meeting rooms (which are all available and free for booking for staff and students).

On the day all disciplines offered by the University of Dundee will have information stands located in the marquee located on the Campus Green. Student Ambassadors will escort visitors from the information stands to the subject talks 15 minutes prior to the talk start time.

The Accountancy & Finance talk will take place in Room 2F14, Dalhousie Building at 09:50, and in Lecture Theatre 4 Dalhousie Building at 12:20.

Student Ambassadors will take the visitors from the Accountancy & Finance information stand in the marquee at 09:35 and 12:05.

The Anatomical Sciences and Forensic Anthropology talk will take place in Lecture Theatre 1, Dalhousie Building at 11:00.

The Anatomical Sciences and Forensic Anthropology interactive workshop will be held in MSI Building at 11:45.

Student Ambassadors will take visitors from the Anatomical Sciences and Forensic Anthropology information stand in the marquee to the Dalhousie Building and MSI Building at 10:45 and 11:30 respectively.

The Architecture talk will take place in Lecture Theatre 5018, Matthew Building at 11:00.

Student Ambassadors will take visitors from the Architecture information stand in the marquee to the Matthew Building at 10:45.

There will be a Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design welcome talk in Lecture Theatre 4, Dalhousie Building at 09:30. 

The Art & Design (General Foundation) talk will take place in Lecture Theatre 1, Dalhousie Building at 10:45, followed by a tour of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design. 

In Lecture Theatre 5018, Matthew Building, there will be a talk on Contemporary Art Practice at 12:30, and on Communication Design at 13:00. 

In Lecture Theatre 5016, Matthew Building, there will be a talk on Social Digital at 12:30, and on Design & Craft at 13:00. 

Student Ambassadors will take visitors from the Art & Design information stand in the marquee to the Dalhousie Building at 09:15 and 10:30, and to the Matthew Building at 12:15 and 12:45.

This programme encompasses Biological and Biomedical Sciences.

Life Sciences talks will take place in D'Arcy Thompson Lecture Theatre, Tower Building at 10:30, 11:45 and 14:00.

The 90-minute session will include a talk followed by interactive lab-based workshops for prospective students, and a Q&A session for parents, followed by a tour of the new Discovery Centre for all visitors.

Student Ambassadors will take visitors from the Life Sciences information stand in the marquee to the Tower Building at 10:15, 11:30 and 13:45.

The Biomedical Engineering talk will take place in F20, Fulton Building at 1015 and 1130.  Student Ambassadors will take visitors from the Biomedical Engineering information stand in the marquee to the Fulton Building at 1000 and 1115.

This programme encompasses Biological and Biomedical Sciences.

The Computing interactive workshop 'Express Yourself in Code:  Programming Paint', will be held in Queen Mother Building labs at 10:40 and 13:10.

Student Ambassadors will take visitors from the Computing information stand in the marquee to Queen Mother Building at 09:45, 10:25, 12:15 and 12:55.

The Dentistry programme will take place in the Large Lecture Theatre in the Dental Hospital at 11:00.

The Dentistry programme will include information on studying Dentistry at Dundee, life as a dental student and tours of the Dental School.

The Economics & International Business talk will take place in Lecture Theatre T9, Tower Building at 1100 and in Room 2G14, Dalhousie Building at 1230.

The Law talks, which will be followed by a Law taster tutorial, will take place in Scrymgeour Building at 10:00, 11:15 and 13:00.

The Mathematics and Mathematical Biology talks will take place in 2G13, Dalhousie Building at 10:00 and 12:30.

The Mechanical Engineering & Renewables talk will take place in F20, Fulton Building at 10:15 and 11:30.

If you are interested in Medicine you'll need to come to the Medicine Registration Point in Dalhousie Building foyer between 0830 and 1030, where you will be assigned to a group.

The Medicine programme will take place at Ninewells Campus.  We have arranged buses to take you to the Ninewells Campus from the main campus due to limited parking.  There will be two tour groups, we'll let you know which group you are in.  You'll find out about studying Medicine at Dundee from current medical students.  Plus there will be information about the application process.  You will get the chance to tour the Medical School.  This includes the Clinical Skills Centre and teaching facilities.

Group 1 will go to Ninewells from 0940 to 1315, and Group 2 will go from 1215 to 1545.

Places are limited.  Prospective students will have priority over parents and teachers.

This programme will cover Adult, Child and Mental Health Nursing.

The Nursing talks will take place at 09:30 in D'Arcy Thompson Lecture Theatre, Tower Building and at 11:30 in Lecture Theatre 3, Dalhousie Building.

Student Ambassadors will take visitors from the Nursing information stand in the marquee to the Tower Building and Dalhousie Building at 09:15 and 11:15 respectively.

Prospective students will have the opportunity to take part in interactive nursing skill sessions.

The Oral Health Sciences talk will take place in the Large Lecture Theatre in the Dental Hospital at 10:00.

Student Ambassadors will take visitors from the Dentistry information stand to the Dental Hospital at 09:45.

The Philosophy talks will take place in 2F15, Dalhousie Building at 10:45 and 12:45.

On arrival, please make your way to one of the registration points on campus to pick up your Open Day pack with map and any additional notes you may need to help you during your visit.

To help speed up registration, we ask to bring your Eventbrite confirmation with you – either printed or on your smartphone / tablet.

There will be information stands located in the marquee, so if you want to ask a few more questions about our courses after attending a talk, come along and chat to students and academics.

Our map of the campus will help you make your way around campus. This can either be downloaded or you can collect a copy when you arrive on campus from any of the registration points around campus.
