The PhD programme is administered by professional services staff within the School of Life Sciences in conjunction with key contacts in the School of Medicine and the School of Science and Engineering.
Opportunities with all three Schools can be viewed on the School of Life Sciences webpages.
The initial application process is also hosted by the School of Life Sciences on behalf of all three Schools.
How we process your application
Your application is first assessed by the Academic Management Committee, and by potential supervisors then references are sought. A preliminary interview, often by Skype, can be used to clarify certain aspects of your application. At this point you would be asked to describe a research project that you have carried out.
The formal interview with the Management Committee starts with a 15 minute presentation from you covering some aspect of research in which you have participated. A Q&A session will then follow.
A lunch and poster session is arranged around your interview that will allow you to see the diverse areas of research linked to the Doctoral Training Programme, to meet current students and potential supervisors with opportunities for you to ask questions of us. This is also an opportunity to view our excellent research facilities and to see the campus.
The Academic Management Committee makes the decision on appointments and we send out the offers.
