Paying your tuition fees
If you, a member of your family, or an individual such as a family friend are paying your fees, then you are a self funded student.
If you are being funded by an official sponsor, such as the UK or Home Government, British Council, international organisation, international company or home university, then you are a funded student.
Tuition fee depositIf you have been assessed as an International (overseas) fee status and have been unconditionally accepted, you will have to pay a fee deposit of £1000. You can pay more if you want too.
We will email you to let you know:
- when your tuition fee invoice first becomes available
- when your fees are due to be paid within 7 days
- if your tuition fees are overdue.
Make sure you check My Applications regularly to make sure you don't miss any messages.
Log in to eVision and click My Balance, your fee is displayed on screen.
Click Make a payment or choose payment plan which offers the following options
- View items you can pay now: full payment by debit or credit card
- View items you can pay by instalments: paperless Direct Debit (instalment plan). You can pay fees of £400 or more by instalments from your UK bank account.
The Direct Debit plan consists of
- 7 monthly payments from mid-October until mid-April for an annual tuition fee
- 3 monthly payments for a module fee.
Once you've decided which option is right for you just follow the instructions on the screen.
You can make a pre-payment by credit or debit card before your fee is displayed on My Balance by clicking Make a pre-payment/deposit.
If information on scholarships / sponsorship is missing please check your Student Profile. If your funding is not shown in your Student Profile please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
If a family member of friend is with you in person, you can log in to My Applications and ask them to complete the payment form.
If they are not with you, they'll not be able to access My Applications for security reasons. Instead, they can use our open payment gateway service to pay using their credit or debit card.
If you do not have a UK bank account you can pay your fees in your local currency through your own bank account. You can only make a full payment using this service, instalments are only available from UK bank accounts.
We have partnerships with Western Union and Pay to Study which let you pay with:
- no currency conversion fees
- no bank charges
- beneficial exchange rates.
Compare both services to find the best rate for you.
To pay from your UK bank account your bank will need the following information:

This is important as we need to know who the fee is from.

You also need to instruct your bank that all charges (including those of the University's bank) are paid by the sender. You will need to pay any difference between the fee and the amount received. Please keep your copy of the bank transfer document as you might need to prove to the University that you have made the correct payment.
Tuition fee payment terms
Any balance of tuition fees are due for payment at matriculation during your first week.
You are responsible for ensuring your fees are paid in full and on time. If we have not received payment of your fees from your sponsor within three months of matriculation, then you will be billed directly.
If the University does not receive full payment from your sponsor, for example, where bank charges have been deducted, you will be liable to pay the difference. The Cash Office will let you know about any shortfall.
The University will not pursue any sponsor for amounts of £100 or less. This means you will have to pay all charges and postgraduate continuation of study fees. You will need to pursue your sponsor yourself for any money you consider to be your sponsor's liability.
If you fail to pay tuition fees within 28 days
If you have not paid your tuition fees in full or arranged to pay by Direct Debit instalments within 28 days of matriculation you will be liable to pay a late payment fee of 3.5% on your tuition fee (maximum charge £400).
The total late payment fee depends on your tuition fee amount. For example, an overdue fee of £4,500 will incur a late payment fee of £157.50.
If you do not make a payment which is due under an instalment plan, we reserve the right to cancel the instalment plan. This will result in your fees becoming due in full immediately and you will be charged a late payment fee.
If you do not pay your tuition fees
- we will revoke access to University facilities such as the Library and your IT account
- you will be withdrawn from your studies, you will be unable to receive tuition and sit exams
- we will tell your funding body that your student status has been revoked
- you will not receive your degree certificate
- your details will be passed to a debt collection agency
- if you are a Tier 4 Visa holder: we will notify UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) that we are no longer sponsoring your Visa. This will result in your Visa being invalid and you will be required to return home.
