From September 2017, dental students in Scotland can apply for a grant of £4,000 a year to help with the cost of their studies. This is called the Dental Student Support Grant (DSSG).
Students who started in 2016 and before can apply for the NHS Dental Bursary Scheme (DUBS) through SAAS.
Who can apply?
You can apply for a DSSG if you:
- are enrolled for Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS);
- can evidence that you have an annual household income of less than £34,000;
- are allowed to live and work in Scotland after graduation.
You must apply for a DSSG every year, and students at the University of Dundee can only apply from their second year onwards, ie. from level 2 of the BDS.
Important: you are not eligible to apply for the DSSG if you are undertaking an intercalated year as part of your BDS.
You must be a current student at the University of Dundee before you can apply and the closing date for all applications is Friday 13th December 2019.
Further information, DSSG application form and DSSG contract can be found here.
All applications to be handed in to the Student Funding Unit offices (#47 on campus map).
