Conversation Café is an informal meeting where University of Dundee International Students can come and practice conversational English speaking skills and improve their understanding of the English language.
What happens at the Conversation Café?
Peer Connections volunteers (trained students) host these meetings and will help fellow students in various topics of conversation. Each week there is a different topic, which could range from using public transport to surviving the supermarket. You are also welcome to ask questions and share information about your own country, culture and customs.
Where and when does the Conversation Café meet?
For Semester 1 Academic Year 2021-22 the Conversation Café is being held in The Global Room
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the kitchen in the Global Room remains closed. Please bring a drink with you if you wish.

Who can come to the meetings? Do you have to be an international student?
Everyone is welcome to come along, whether you are an international student or not.
Come along to help with English language skills, meet new friends or learn about and share different cultures and customs.
Do I have to book a place for Conversation Café?
No, this is an informal drop in meeting – just come along and you will be made welcome.
What are the benefits of attending the Conversation Café?
Attending the Conversation Café will help you to become more confident in speaking conversational English. This will be of great benefit to your studies as you will feel more able to participate in classroom discussions and teamwork. You will also have the opportunity to meet other international students, make friends and share your culture and knowledge of your own country. You can also get support and information from the Peer Connectors hosting the events.
