We would advise everyone, students and staff alike, to register with a dentist as soon as possible after arriving in Dundee.
There are a limited number of spaces for NHS clients, you may need to try several dentists to find a space. Find all dentists within the local area through the NHS 24 website NHS 24 - Find Local Services.
The Dental Hospital has an Emergency Department where you can attend between 08:30-11:00 and 13:30-15:00 on a first come, first served basis, (so be prepared to wait) but they will not undertake routine treatment. It is advisable that you arrive as early as you can.
At Dundee Dental Hospital and School we are very grateful to those patients who give their time to help us train the next generation of dentists and dental therapists. If you would like to assist us whilst receiving free dental care, we at Dundee Dental Hospital and School would love to hear from you. For more information, please check out our School webpages.
Dental check ups are free but you will have to pay 80% of the costs for treatment, if registered with an NHS dentist. However if you are aged between 18 and 19 years in full time education then you are exempt from costs. There are other exemptions, but unlikely to cover students, details available from your dentist.
Most dentists have several different options to pay for dental treatment, including monthly payments through a private dental scheme. Contact individual dentists for details.
