We have four part-time members of staff
Making an appointment with the Doctor
Our current doctor Dr Panna Muqit (MBBS, MRCGP, DRCOG) runs two short clinics each week. The clinics are by appointment only. Please contact us if you wish to discuss this service or book an appointment.
If you are unsure or having difficulties accessing GP services please contact us and we will endeavour to assist and direct you to the appropriate services.
Making an appointment with the Mental Health Nurse
Fiona Grant (RMN, BSc Hons) is a Senior Nurse in Mental Health, employed by the University but is governed by the same confidentiality standards as the NHS.
As well as clinical sessions Fiona is happy to listen to any concerns regarding mental health including worried about friends/students/staff and offers training sessions throughout the university.
Referrals to Fiona are usually from other medical personnel. If a referral is from department, colleagues, friends, self, a screening appointment is made with our doctor first.
If you are unsure as to whether your needs are more likely to be met via the mental health nurse or the counselling service, please contact us to discuss.
Medical Secretary and Administrative Assistant
Norma Smith and Laura Southern are the administrative team responsible for arranging appointments for both the doctor and Fiona Grant.
They are your initial contact with the service. They arrange all appointments and can provide information on accessing medical services, the chlamydia/gonorrhoea testing on campus, first aid and the appropriate leaflets for health promotion. Alongside undertaking all the administration for the department.
