We have five part-time members of staff

Making an appointment with the Doctor

Our current doctor Dr Panna Muqit (MBBS, MRCGP, DRCOG) runs two short clinics each week. The clinics are by appointment only. Please contact us if you wish to discuss this service or book an appointment.

If you are unsure or having difficulties accessing GP services please contact us and we will endeavour to assist and direct you to the appropriate services.

Making an appointment with a Mental Health Nurse

We currently have three, part time Registered Mental Health Nurses (RMN) employed by the University of Dundee:

  • Fiona Grant (RMN, MSc Advanced Practice - Mental Health, Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist)
  • Jacquie Cameron (RMN, Non-medical prescriber)
  • Shauna Smyth (RMN)

They also hold honorary NHS contracts, and patient confidentiality is of the utmost importance.

As well as undertaking direct clinical sessions, Fiona, Jacquie and Shauna are happy to listen to any concerns regarding mental health including worries about friends/students/staff, with a view to discussing appropriate support or signposting.  They also offer training sessions throughout the university.

In order to ensure that you are receiving the correct treatment, referrals are normally made by medical staff, so if you feel that you may be in need of this service, please discuss with your own GP first. If you do not have access to a GP, or are seeking input for a colleague or friend, we may be able to arrange a screening appointment with our doctor first.

If you are unsure as to whether your needs are more likely to be met via the mental health nurses or the university counselling service, please contact us to discuss.

Administrator and Administrative Assistant

Norma Smith and Lorna Knight are the administrative team responsible for arranging appointments for both the doctor and Mental Health Nurses.

They are your initial contact with the service. They arrange all appointments and can provide information on accessing medical services, the chlamydia/gonorrhoea testing on campus, first aid and the appropriate leaflets for health promotion. Alongside undertaking all the administration for the department.
