The Tier 4 Compliance team carry out a document check each semester. This is to ensure that information on international student records is up to date. We can also ensure that we hold current copies of all immigration documents. We are required to keep these documents up to date by the Home Office and could be audited at any point. It is vital that students attend document checks when required to. This protects our ability to sponsor international students. Due to this, students who fail to attend the document check without contacting the Tier 4 Compliance team may have their studies suspended until they present their documents.
We need each student to take 10 minutes out of their day to attend the check with all relevant documents. You will be advised of the dates (usually October for Semester 1 and February for Semester 2) by email. The email will give you information about that semester’s document check. There will be a period of 4 weeks for you to attend the document check. This will primarily occur in your School office. You will be asked to show the following documents:
- Student ID card
- Visa (most students will now have this in the form of a BRP card)
- Current passport
- Recent proof of address
Proof of address is only required for students not staying in University Residences. It can be in the form of a letter or bank statement from within the past month at the time of showing or a tenancy agreement signed within the past year. Printouts from eVision are not accepted as they are not independent verification.
If you also have the following you MUST bring them to the document check
- ATAS Certificate
- Police Registration Certificate
If you are unable to attend a document check or will be late in completing it, please contact us as soon as possible.
