Some postgraduate courses (Dentistry, Medicine etc.) may have scheduled holiday periods. The guidance below may not apply to you. Your School will inform you if this is the case.
Postgraduate students are required to attend all teaching. They are expected to be on campus and engaged with their studies throughout the year.
Each student is allowed 7 weeks holiday in an academic year. This must include the approximately 2 weeks when the University is closed over the Christmas period. Holiday covers any time you spend not engaged in your studies. This does not specifically refer to time spent outside of the UK.
Students should ensure that they submit an Absence Request Form well in advance of going away or booking any flights. Your school will then review this. They will either approve it as an authorised absence or refuse it for reasons such as missing studies or going over you holiday limits.
