Following the recent launch of the University of Dundee’s new undergraduate double degree programme with the Indonesia International Institute for Life Sciences (i3L), the Scottish Government Minister for Business, Trade, Tourism and Enterprise, Mr Ivan McKee, recently visited Jakarta to find out more.

The BSc (Hons) Biomedical Studies programme is the first dual degree between an Indonesian and Scottish university and will see students join for the first time in September 2023.

Mr McKee met with staff involved in the development of the programme from both institutions, as well as the British Council, British Embassy and Scottish Development International, to learn more about this innovative partnership and how it links with our industrial partner Combiphar, one of Indonesia’s leading healthcare and pharmaceutical companies.

The meeting took place at the head office of Combiphar in Jakarta, and it’s purpose was to demonstrate Scottish Government support for the partnership between i3L, University of Dundee and Combiphar and Indonesian students that will study in Scotland in the future, as well as to highlight Scotland’s wider strengths in life sciences and explore other potential trade and/or investment opportunities with Combiphar in areas such as drug discovery and development, clinical trials, contract research and manufacturing.
