Outstanding performance for Life Science undergraduate degree courses

Our Biological Sciences courses have been ranked 3rd in the UK and 1st in Scotland in the newly published Complete University Guide 2021 rankings.

Dundee was only behind Cambridge and Oxford in the rankings. In addition, we were ranked 2nd in the UK in the Pharmacology & Pharmacy category which recognizes our outstanding Pharmacology degree course.

There were strong performances across our wider life and medical sciences with the University ranked top in the UK for Medicine jointly with Glasgow and in the UK top five for Dentistry (2nd) and Forensic Science (2nd).

Professor Inke Näthke, Dean of the School of Life Sciences, said, “I am immensely proud of this achievement and wish to thank and congratulate all the staff whose skill, effort, and dedication made this happen.”

Professor Jenny Woof, Associate Dean for Quality and Academic Standards, added “These very strong league table performances, together with the accreditation of all our biological and biomedical sciences degrees by the Royal Society of Biology, mark out our degree offerings as some of the very best in the UK. Our courses are designed to equip our graduates with the knowledge and skills that we know employers are looking for.”

The University also featured in the subject ranking top tens for Anatomy & Physiology (6th), Education (7th), General Engineering (7th), Social Work (8th) and Art & Design (9th).

In the overall league table, Dundee is at 31st in the UK, out of 130 universities, for the third consecutive year.
