Outlining your novel - Upskilling Module
School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Law
We will teach you how to create a well-structured outline and guide you through the practice of writing a novel.
A limited number of fully funded places are available for eligible Scottish applicants through the Scottish Government's Upskilling Fund.
If you are living in Scotland and are currently:
- unemployed and seeking work
- at risk of redundancy or your job under threat as a result of Covid-19 or the economic impact of EU Exit
- employed and have identified a skills gap in their current job
then you can apply for a fully funded place.
Got a great idea and ready to put pen to paper, or maybe you’re stuck with your storytelling? The first step is to create an outline and this course will help you get started.
We will teach you the secrets of stories through the consolidation of several popular story structures and novel outlining techniques.
Each week consists of both a lecture and a workshop that steps you through the process of creating a full outline. This outline will then guide you through the practice of writing your novel.
By the end of this course you will walk away with a well-structured outline and a clear plan to help you not only start but complete your novel.
